Introduction
From the FN website: Batch 011 is composed of six corn components, two ryes and a new wood cask of Peregrine First Flight. If our goal is to balance three different flavor qualities, why such a complex blend? The answer is layering. By using 18, 23 and 24 year corn components aged in new wood as well as a cask of Peregrine aged in new wood, we get multiple expressions of wood sugar and baking spice. It is like a quartet of voices singing the same note across multiple octaves, adding depth and profound unity to the composition.
Nose
The nose is heavenly, it hits you right away with like a chocolate spice muffin drizzled with caramel. The vanillas, caramels, and spices are all there with a strong influence of cocoa and oak.
Palate
POW! Smacked right in the face with a big ol oak-caramel-vanilla-spice bomb. Then followed up with some rich Luxardo cherries covered in their syrup. These flavors are loud and in charge and the mouthfeel is very creamy. The caramel and vanilla keep going into the finish.
Finish
The vanilla, caramel, and oak keep going for days, followed closely with a powdered sugar note. The finish might be the only shortcoming of this pour as it seems to thin out just a smidge from the viscous creamy mouthfeel up front.
Overall - 9
This pour is amazing and definitely one of the best I’ve had so far in 2025. The powerful, rich, dark flavors presented really come together nicely for a very enjoyable pour. This pour is basically if Stagg Batch 12 and George T. Stagg 2022 had a baby. It doesn’t quite match the intensity of a GTS, but its flavors are bolder than the Batch 12. I would say this comfortably sits somewhere in between.
Rating: 9 – Near Perfect – One of the best pours of my life.
Value: Buy Above MSRP - The lottery has ended, so finding it at MSRP is likely impossible. If you can get your hands on one, do not hesitate.
